Welcome to ENG 141!

And we're off! Welcome back for Fall 2015 and especially to Literature and Film. This semester we will be exploring the connections between literature and film by focusing on film adapations of literary works. The first thing that I want you to think about is how we can move past simply reviewing the two forms as better or worse than their predecessors. Adapation is often far more complicated and more interesting than we give it credit for and it's worth thinking about WHY the two pieces differ from one another. I have selected five adaptations that I think are fun and interesting to watch/read, but also to think about their unique approaches to form and function. Please take a minute to get comfortable with this website, as it will be the home base for news and updates for the course as well as a location to obtain readings and other course materials. So let's do this!
